Major UKIP Donor Arron Banks Set To Leave And Set Up ‘UKIP 2.0’

A row broke out among UKIP ranks this morning as one of the party’s biggest donors, Arron Banks, claimed to have been ‘suspended’ from the party.

Arron Banks, founder of Leave.EU, who is also thought to have pumped millions of pounds into UKIP’s funds, tweeted saying it appeared his “membership has been suspended.”


The UKIP donor has a long-standing beef with the party’s only Member of Parliament, Douglas Carswell. Last month Mr Carswell was accused by Arron Banks and his allies, of blocking Nigel Farage’s chances of getting into the House of Lords.

Arron Banks, a close ally of Nigel Farage, later called Mr Carswell “old wonky jaw,” referring to facial features, after having pledged to run in the MP’s seat at the next General Election. Banks also appeared to be angered by UKIP leader Paul Nuttall’s suggestion that Carswell didn’t block Nigel Farage’s peerage and should remain in the party.

After tweeting that he had been suspended the ex-UKIP donor suggested he’d even start his own party. Responding to a tweet, Mr Banks said: “UKIP 2.0, the force awakens…”
