Acting Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, Mark Rowley, also told journalists that a total of five people, including the attacker and police officer, have lost their lives as a result of Wednesday’s attacks.
40 people are injured, some with life-changing injuries, which a much higher number than many had previously assumed.
Mark Rowley, asked about the suspect, said the Metropolitan Police believe the incident was “Islamist-related terrorism,” adding that they have an idea of the identity of the terrorist suspect but are unable to confirm any details at this time.
Previously, the Metropolitan Police said there’s a “full counter terrorism investigation” already underway.
In a statement outside Downing Street, Theresa May said the attack will not change the way of London Life.
“Tomorrow morning, Parliament will meet as normal, we will come together as normal, and Londoners and others from around the world who’ve come here to visit this great city will get up and go about their day as normal.”
